Day 1 – Welcome to Rwanda

Land in Kigali and journey through scenic valleys to Akagera National Park. Settle into your accommodation surrounded by savannah, lakes and grassy hills, home to elephant, buffalo and more. At sunset, take a boat ride to spot hippos and myriad bird species on Lake Ihema.

Day 2 – Exploring Akagera
Rise with the African sunrise for a full day safari in Akagera. Expert guides will take you through acacia woodlands and along river banks, looking for lion, giraffe, zebra and other wildlife. As the fiery orb sets, return to your peaceful accommodation.

Day 3 – Rainforest Trailblazing
Traverse drumlins and terraced farmland enroute to Nyungwe Forest – one of Africa’s oldest and lushest rainforests. Stop at the King’s Palace and museums to absorb Rwanda’s cultural heritage before entering the dense jungle in search of chimps and colobus monkeys. Zip along the canopy walkway high above the forest floor.

Day 4 – Primate Paradise

A vigorous trek this morning leads you to a raucous chimpanzee troop. Spend an exhilarating hour observing them socialize and forage before heading back through picturesque tea plantations. The afternoon is yours to relax streamside or take a mountain bike ride through the lush surroundings.

Day 5 – Island Serenity
Journey along sparkling Lake Kivu, counting the hundred islands dotting its serene surface, to your hotel perched lakeside. Kayak, hike and soak up the calming views across to Congo. This is the rejuvenation day your adventurous spirit needs.

Day 6 – Gorilla Tracking Countdown
Transfer northwards through fertile farmland and lush hillsides to Volcanoes National Park – realm of the rare mountain gorilla. Settle into your eco-conscious accommodation and rest up for tomorrow’s highlight.

Day 7 – Gorillas in the Mist
The stirring sound of gorillas drifting through early morning mist is your signal to begin the long anticipated trek. Guides briskly lead you up the volcanoes’ fertile foothills and into bamboo thickets. The first glimpse of a hairy back or silver stare makes all the effort dissolve into awe. Quietly observe gorilla families until it’s time to bid goodbye.

Day 8 – Golden Monkeys 
One last Rwandan wildlife adventure awaits to round off your trip. Search mossy trees to spy the golden monkeys vaulting from branch to branch like quicksilver acrobats. Return to Kigali for a final evening savoring African hospitality and reflecting on special moments before your homebound flight.
